Baby Shower Invite

Baby Shower Invite

Case study hero showing the finished website design

Project Overview:

A digital baby shower invitation for Hope & Emmanuel that feels like opening real mail. Guests receive a wax-sealed envelope, tap the seal to break it, and the invitation card slides out to reveal the date, venue, a live countdown, RSVP and a gift registry — all in one mobile-first web experience.

Objective:

Replace paper invites and scattered group chats with a single link that sets the mood, answers every guest question, collects RSVPs and stops duplicate gifts — while staying effortless for guests of every age on any phone.

Challenges:

  • Delight without friction: the envelope-opening moment had to feel tactile and special, yet never block guests who just want the details.

  • Registry coordination: 34 gifts from many stores needed live reservation so two guests never buy the same item.

  • Mobile first: most guests open the link from a message, so every interaction had to be thumb-friendly and fast on small screens.

Design Process:

  1. Mood & Art Direction: soft pastels (sage, blush, lavender), script typography and a hanging-mobile illustration

  2. Envelope Interaction: wax seal, flap, card-reveal and confetti motion sequence

  3. Information Design: countdown, When / Where / Dress code cards and sticky section navigation

  4. RSVP Flow: accept / decline choice, party size and a note to the parents-to-be

  5. Registry System: category filters, live "still needed" counts and full-width reserve buttons

  6. Build & Launch: Next.js, deployed on Vercel and tested across devices

Outcome:

The invite became the single source of truth for the event. Guests open it, smile at the envelope, RSVP in under a minute and pick a gift that is guaranteed not to be duplicated — and the hosts track replies and reservations from one admin view.

Key Achievements:

  1. Memorable first impression: a cinematic seal-break and card-reveal animation that guests share and talk about.

  2. Frictionless RSVP: a two-tap reply flow with party size, notes and optional email reminders.

  3. Zero duplicate gifts: a 34-item registry with live reservation status across six categories.

  4. Built for phones: responsive layouts, large tap targets and fast loading on mobile networks.
